Michael C. Welch, 32, of Compton, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was born February 26, 1980 in Rockford, the son of William and Karen Lynn (nee Meier) Welch.

Mike worked at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore as a chef for the last five years. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his parents, William and Karen Lynn Welch of Compton; three brothers, William (Trish) Welch Jr. of Galesburg, Ron Welch of Dixon, and Andy Welch of Ottawa; two nieces, Samantha and Mykayla Welch; and an aunt, Doris Hays of Belvidere.

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 21, 2012 at Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg Street, in Paw Paw. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Pastor Ken Foster will officiate. Interment will follow in Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton.

Memorial in Mike’s name may be directed to the Salvation Army.

    I went to Carroll College with Mike and lived on the same floor his freshman year. I have many memories of Mike, including one very memorable prank he pulled on me. He was a great guy with a lovable personality. My condolences.

    It is sad to hear of your loss Michael was very loved here at the campground and will be missed very much. Our hearts go out to you in this difficult time he will always be with you in heart memory and spirit. Some day you will see him again in the gardens of Heaven camping with all our loved ones from the campground that have passed over the years playing horse shoes and shuffle board with him. He will truly be missed and if there is anything we can do for you let us Know.

  5. I am so sorry to hear about Mike. I enjoyed working with Mike at Kindred these last 5 years. He was the kindest and most patient man I had ever met. He knew his job well, he did his job even better and he never complained. He was a wonderful person. I will always remember his smirk and his dedication to his job. He is already missed and will always be remembered.
