Maynard Hoelzer, 90, passed away January 5, 2022, at Pleasant View Health Center in Ottawa. He was born July 31, 1931, in Compton, the son of Edward and Hilda (Winter) Hoelzer. He married Mary Lou Barnhart on August 7, 1954, in Scarboro, IL.

Maynard farmed in the Compton area his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army in France during the Korean War. A passion of his was dancing and he would go whenever he could.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Hoelzer of Compton; son, Hal (Marcel Stumbo) Hoelzer of Mendota; four grandchildren, Kye Witek of International Falls, MN, Devin Witek of Oglesby, Zack Witek of Steward, Madeline Hoelzer of Mendota; son-in-law, John Witek of Steward; and siblings, Dennis (Judy) Hoelzer of Peyton, CO, Marion Neal of Shabbona.

In addition to his parents, Maynard is preceded in death by a son, Kevin Hoelzer; daughter, Natalie Witek; and siblings, Violet Williams, Kenneth Hoelzer, and Milton Hoelzer.

A private family graveside service will be held at Twin Grove Cemetery in Steward with Pastor Ken Foster officiating. Please visit www.TormanFuneralHome.com to sign the online guest book.
