April 20, 1941 - September 19, 2025
Ottis Wayne Martin (Wayne Martin), age 84, of Rollo, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on April 20, 1941, in New Albany, Mississippi, Wayne was the son of Clyde Edward and Lilly Maude (Chism) Martin. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Judy Salisbury, and together they raised six children, building a life rooted in love, hard work, and family.
Wayne was a proud member of the Freemasons for many years and spent a significant part of his career at Caterpillar, where he worked before retiring in 1998. He also successfully owned and operated a pool business for many years, earning the respect of his community through his dedication and craftsmanship.
An avid outdoorsman, Wayne found joy in hunting and fishing. He especially treasured his annual elk hunting trips to Colorado with close friends and the memorable fishing excursions to Chetek, Wisconsin with family and friends. These adventures reflected his deep appreciation for nature and the bonds he shared with loved ones.
Wayne will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. His quick wit, generous heart, and knack for making everyone feel like family will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children: Kimberly (Scott) Simmons, Denise (Dave) Todd, Tammy (Felix) Wooden, Michael Martin, Christopher (Laurie) Martin, and Bradley (Heather) Martin; his grandchildren: Ashley (Kevin) Baugher, Felicia (Kris) Carter, Alexis (Alex) Frye, Katlyn (Adam) Huber, Tyler (Anna) Simmons, Kalene (Michael) Bantz, Jaron (Mattie) Todd, Taylor (Joshua) Ross, Jacob Krantz, Ryan Todd, Cassidy Martin, Raegan Martin, Slade Martin, Sawyer Martin, and Alba Martin; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Judy, and siblings: Dennis, Eddie, Penny, Martha, Roxanne, Larry, Gary, and Billy.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Rollo Congregational Church, 2471 Weddell St., Earlville, IL 60518. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1 pm. Please visit www.TormanFuneralHome.com to sign the online guest book.
