John C. “Johnny” Marks

John C. “Johnny” Marks, 47 of Rock Falls died Friday December 8, 2023 at his home.

He was born on March 18, 1976 in Mendota, the son of John F. and Bertha Maxine (McNeely) Marks. John graduated from Earlville High School where he was active in basketball, baseball and soccer. He married the former Tennille Meyer on August 20, 2004 in Dixon. John was a correction officer at the DOC in Dixon. He enjoyed working part time with local farmers. As his children attended East Coloma Grade school, John helped coach his sons in baseball and basketball. He was always helping out his neighbors on various projects, be it lawn work or some maintenance project. He followed his beloved St Louis Cardinals and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Survivors include his Wife, Tennille; his daughter Alex (Alex) Bach of Woodstock; his sons: Braxten and Brody at home; his father John F. (Patsy) Marks of Earlville; His mother Bertha Maxine (Robert) Stanford of Earlville; his sister: Kris (Jim) Hubly of Kankakee; his brothers: Cody Marks (Ashley Folty) of Paw Paw and Casey (Sarah) Marks of Sublette; several nieces and nephews; and surrogate grandfather Reg Dahlstrom of Rock Falls.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: John R. (Loeta) Marks, Grace Johnson, Charles and Florence Kuebel.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Tuesday December 12, 2023 from 3-6 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls.

A gathering of friends and family will also take place on Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 11:00AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church under the direction of the Torman Funeral Home. Burial will conclude at Wyoming Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family.

We also would like to encourage everyone to wear their favorite local sports team apparel, such as Rock Falls Rockets and East Coloma Bulldogs.
