David Raymond Sanderson, 71, of Steward, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 5, 2026. He was born April 19, 1954, in DeKalb, Illinois, to Donald and Evelyn Sanderson, who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brothers, Doug Sanderson and Dan Sanderson; his children, Chelsey Sanderson Zuzow and her children Andrew Zuzow and Elaine Zuzow; Bailey Sanderson and her children Thaden McKoy and Harper McKoy; and Austin Sanderson and his children Ella Sanderson and Emersyn Sanderson. He is also survived by his partner, Erica Scudder.
David spent much of his life farming in the Malta area, was a volunteer firefighter, and tended the Union cemetery at Calvary Lutheran Church. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services and celebration of life will be held at a later date at Calvary Lutheran Church, 19 Perry Road, Lee, Illinois.
