Ron T. Schlesinger

Ron T. Schlesinger, 57, of Paw Paw, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born November 19, 1959 in Mendota, the son of Clifford W. and June Adell (Sloter) Schlesinger. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Connie Ruppert, on March 29, 1980 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Compton.

Ron and his family have lived and farmed in the Paw Paw area his entire life. He was a fourth generation farmer who was extremely proud that his son, Scott, joined him as the fifth generation to carry on the family tradition. He owned and operated his own construction company since 1988. Ron was an avid snowmobiler and loved the Northwoods. His home away from home was Tomahawk, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Northwoods Riders Snowmobile Club and a member of the Nokomis ATV Club. He was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Compton, where he served as past president of the church council and on numerous other committees. He was past president of the Paw Paw Co-op, member of the Lee County Farm Bureau, and an active member of the Paw Paw Lions Club. Ron had a personality that was hard to miss. You couldn’t be in a room with him and not smile. He genuinely enjoyed making people laugh. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and “papa.”

Ron is survived by his wife, Connie of Paw Paw; children Diane (Michael) Reppin of Mendota and Scott Schlesinger of Paw Paw; one grandson, Connor Reppin of Mendota; his parents, Clifford W. and June Adell Schlesinger of Paw Paw; two siblings, Connie (Craig) Ganz of Mendota and David (Cindy) Schlesinger of Earlville; three nieces; one nephew; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

Memorial visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton, 398 Church Road, in Compton.

A memorial funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the church with Pastor Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Additional visitation will from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at the Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw.

    I’m really going to miss him on my return visits to Paw Paw. He treated me with respect and we always had a good laugh. So sorry for our loss.
