Robert George Eich Jr.

Robert George Eich Jr., 63, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. Bob was born June 29, 1953 in Mendota, the son of Robert George Sr. and Darlene (Molinare) Eich.

Bob was one of the hardest working people you’d ever meet. He worked for Motor Wheel in Mendota for almost 20 years. After that, he was employed with Nestle in DeKalb for 14 years and, most recently, at Ryder in Rochelle. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Compton, where he was currently serving on the church council. He made it a habit to always accompany his mother to church in her later years. Bob was an avid coin collector. He was a very competitive bowler, amassing numerous trophies over the years. His favorite past time was playing euchre, both with friends and at every Eich family gathering. He loved to play euchre but he rarely would be found in the house. He loved being outdoors, doing everything from chopping wood to mowing the lawn and attending outdoor auctions. He had played host to the Eich family reunions for over ten years, putting his famous work ethic into making sure his yard and home were ready for the crowd. He made sure every family member had something to keep them occupied, from trampolines and bean bag toss to three legged races and even karaoke. He was the former owner/operator of Eich’s Cafe in Paw Paw. His greatest joy in life was his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with all his family.

Bob is survived by two sons, Christopher (Stephanie) Eich of White Oak, TX and Joseph Eich of Tooele, UT; six grandchildren, Brittny, Kaylee, Amy, Ashley, Zoe, and Andrew; five sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole, and a brother, David.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 398 Church Road in Compton.

A funeral service will be at 3 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the church with Pastor Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Additional visitation will be from 2 P.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

My prayers are with your family as you all go through this time of loss. May God give you peace and comfort.

  2. I worked with Bob for years at Nestle. Bob had a one of a kind smile everyday for everybody. He always had his thermos of coffee on break and told funny jokes. I cant believe God has taken him from us, he must have special plans for him in heaven…..he will be missed by many.

Marilyn, I just happened to be visiting my sister, Debbie Schmdt) Rebholz and was at church on Sunday. I am so sorry for this sudden loss of your brother Bob. I also understand you lost your mother late last year and also a sister-in-law very recently. So much grief so close together. I pray for healing for you and your family as you not only grieve but also reflect on the wonderful memories of all their lives.

Our brother, Bob, was well-loved, respected and admired for his dedication to our mother in her later years. We will miss him dearly, but have a lot of good memories from family reunions. He will remain in our hearts forever.
