Howard A. Schoenholz Sr., 97, of Paw Paw, passed away August 25, 2014 at Rochelle Community Hospital. He was born June 29, 1917 in Paw Paw, the son of Arthur W. and Alma (Baxter) Schoenholz. He was united in marriage to Bernice Hansen on June 30, 1937 in Rochelle, IL.

Howard served as Lee County Farm Bureau president and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois State Farm Bureau. He was also served on the Board of Directors of Country Companies Insurance. He was a member of the Order of the Masons as well as the Elks and Moose Lodges. He loved to farm, having farmed in the Paw Paw area his entire life. He worked hard his whole life to provide his family a legacy.

He is survived by three children, Nancy Larimore, Dorothy (Bob) Arjes, and Howard Jr. (Barb); 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Schoenholz, of Paw Paw.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Bernice, on June 25, 2014, an infant son, Ronald; two brothers, Glenn and Don; and a half brother, Verne Girton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg Street, in Paw Paw.

Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the United Methodist Church of Paw Paw, 370 Wiley Ave. in Paw Paw. Pastor David Holden will officiate. Interment will follow in Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw.

Memorials in Howard’s memory may directed to the United Methodist Church of Paw Paw.

  1. My dear Cousins and Families. You know you have a special place in our hearts. Your Mom and Dad have been important to us all our lives. We know their loss will be tough on all of you. Please know that you have in a friend in me and Rich as well as the rest of my family. I learned about this too late to be there in person but my heart is with you.
