Harold “Hezzie” Englehart was born in Paw Paw, Illinois on June 30, 1930 and his battery finally lost its charge on July 23, 2015 in Hamilton, Ohio. Hezzie graduated from Earlville High School in 1948. He served his nation with honor as an army corporal during the Korean War and was stationed for over a year and a half in South Korea. Hezzie married Carola Peterson in Paw Paw in 1961, and was employed for many years as a John Deere implement salesman in Paw Paw.

Hezzie’s love for penny bingo was as large as his heart, which was perhaps most clearly on display through his friendly and gentle demeanor and his quick and memorable laugh. He was a lovable rebel until the end, frequently cited for petty larceny (from the snack cart) and speeding violations (on his scooter) at the Westover Retirement Community (Hamilton, OH).

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carola (Peterson) Englehart (Hamilton, OH), his children Linda (Englehart) Curme and Mike Curme (Hamilton, OH), and his grandchildren – who were the light of his life — Christopher and Mary Curme (Hamilton, OH).

Hezzie was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Flossie, and his beloved brothers Orville, Wellington (Welly), and David (Dave) Englehart.

An informal visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg St., in Paw Paw.

r Carola and Linda; I remember meeting Harold for the first time when I rented the apartment some 42 years ago. He was always so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope your memories of him will be a comfort to you. You are our thoughts and prayers. Take care of each other. Love, Jill and Doug
